I'm Dr. Bryan Van Dyke. I'm an orthopedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle surgery. I see a lot of patients with foot pain and that can be some of the most debilitating pain that there is. It's something that affects every part of your life. That's one of my main goals when I see patients with pain in their feet is trying to figure out how to resolve their symptoms so that they can get back to doing what they want to do and not have to worry about their foot interfering with their life.

Sometimes when patients come in they're worried because they're coming to an orthopedic surgeon's office that all we're going to do is rush them into surgery. But of course first we make sure we have the right diagnosis. There's some things that do benefit from early surgery and we can explain that but oftentimes we use surgery more as our last resort if we're not able to get them good relief by some other method. So it really depends on what the problem is and we lay out all the options and then figure out with the patient what they think is going to be best for them.
