Injured during a tournament: ACL/MCL/meniscus
During my tournament, I got bumped, twisted my leg, and tore my ACL, meniscus, and MCL. I needed care as soon as possible. Summit Orthopaedics got me in quickly—urgent evaluation and surgery scheduled the next week—and I’ve been on the road to recovery ever since.

I’m retired Air Force, so I’m used to professional, above-and-beyond care. That’s exactly what I found at Summit. I was scared—after going through multiple back surgeries in the past—but my surgeon’s confidence and the kindness of the whole team took that fear away. They fit me in within days and took great care of me. I recommend Summit Orthopaedics because you get the attention you need to get back where you want to be.

Video FAQs

I just injured my knee and suspect an ACL tear. How fast can I be seen?
We prioritize acute knee injuries. Call us and we’ll aim to evaluate you promptly, start swelling/pain control, brace if needed, and arrange imaging.
What’s the typical plan for combined ACL/MCL/meniscus injuries?
After exam and MRI, we map a staged plan: reduce swelling and restore motion first, protect the MCL as it heals, and schedule arthroscopic ACL reconstruction with meniscus repair or trimming when appropriate.
How long is recovery and when can I return to sport?
Expect phases: swelling control (weeks 0–2), motion and early strength (weeks 2–8), progressive strengthening and balance (months 2–6), and sport-specific return when strength, motion, and hop/balance tests are symmetrical—often 9–12 months for pivoting sports.
Do you try non-surgical options?
Yes—based on your goals, stability needs, and tear pattern. Bracing and rehab may be reasonable for lower-demand patients or partial tears. For instability or multi-ligament/meniscus injuries, surgery is often recommended.
