A Patient-First Approach to Hip and Knee Pain with Dr. Logan Cooper
Dr. Logan Cooper explains why each patient should leave a first appointment confident that treatment recommendations reflect the patient’s needs rather than a preference for surgery.
Description
Trust matters when choosing a doctor for hip or knee pain. In this video, Dr. Logan Cooper explains what he wants every patient to feel after a first visit: confidence that the treatment recommendation is based on the patient's best interests, goals, and condition.
Seeing an orthopedic surgeon does not mean surgery is the automatic answer. For some patients, the right next step may be physical therapy or another nonsurgical treatment. Other patients may need a more aggressive approach, including surgery, when the diagnosis, symptoms, and effect on daily life support it.
Dr. Cooper specializes in hip and knee replacement and reconstructive surgery, but his approach begins with understanding what each patient actually needs. Summit offers resources about hip conditions, knee conditions, and joint replacement surgery for patients comparing their options.
If hip or knee pain is affecting your mobility or quality of life, schedule a consultation with Dr. Cooper at Summit Orthopaedics in Idaho Falls or call (208) 227-1100.

Video Transcript
After I meet a patient for the first time, I want them to walk away from that appointment confident that I am looking out for their best interest, not my own. I am not there simply to offer surgery. I am there to treat them in the way they need.
If that means nonoperative treatment, physical therapy, or other nonsurgical ways of relieving pain, then great. If they need to be a little more aggressive and consider a more invasive option such as surgery, I want them to feel confident that I am offering that treatment because I truly believe it is what is best for them, not what is best for me.
